Silver Warranty Coverage Features
With GMEPP (Formerly GMPP) Silver coverage, you’ll worry less about unexpected and costly repair bills. The GMEPP Silver Warranty is honored by GM dealerships across the United States, so you’re covered no matter where you go. Unlike cut-rate protection plans and extended warranties, Silver cover the parts and labor costs of repairing specific vehicle components against failure, even if it results from wear and tear. That's a big issue with cheaper aftermarket contracts, as they often have stipulations allowing them to avoid claims by citing "wear and tear". Read the fine print and you'll see that GMEPP Silver is an excellent option for covering parts and labor. Silver covers a variety of components within nine major vehicle assemblies, including:
- Front / Rear-wheel-drive assemblies
- Transmission / Transaxle
- Fuel system
- Front Suspension
- Steering system
- Vehicle manufacturer-installed air conditioning systems
- Braking system components
- Electrical and computer systems
GMEPP (Formerly GMPP) Silver Warranty Benefits
Silver Includes Alternate Transportation
If your vehicle is repaired under Silver, you’re covered for alternate transportation. Silver will pay the cost to rent a replacement vehicle or for public transportation (some limits apply)*
*Alternate transportation is covered whenever two or more labor time guide hours are required for the repair, or your vehicle is not drivable and must be kept overnight.
Vehicle protection plans provide customers with financial security against unanticipated vehicle repair expenses. Additional benefits include:
- Alternate transportation during the repair
- Convenient service at more than 7,000 GM dealerships across the United States and Canada, ensuring your repairs are made by GM-trained technicians.
- Transfer of the warranty to a new owner upon sale of the vehicle, for a small fee.
Cost and Convenience
With the technology used in today's cars, repair costs have risen and will probably continue to do so. One major out-of-warranty repair can exceed the GMEPP (Formerly GMPP) Silver warranty prices. Not only will the GM Extended Protection Plan minimize or even eliminate out-of-pocket expenses for covered repairs, your GM dealer will handle the claim, so you have no paperwork.
Why is the company offering the contract important?
A protection plan is a promise to pay, in the future, for covered repairs and services. That contract is only as good as the company that backs it. When you buy a protection plan, you transfer the risk of future repair costs to a company, trusting them to pay your covered repairs sometime in the future. The company must be in business for the long haul, well into the future. The GM Extended Protection Plan is owned and insured by General Motors and is the only extended warranty program welcomed at all General Motors dealerships nationwide.
All contracts offer a choice of deductibles. The deductible may be zero ($0), meaning that nothing is owed on a covered expense, or as high as $200 for the out-of-pocket amount paid by the customer. Deductibles may apply per individual repair or per claim.
Financial Strength and Rating
The company backing the plan is very important. It is the entity you have contracted with to pay repair claims and services. If the company is unreliable or goes out of business, so goes the protection you thought you purchased. The GM Extended Protection Plan is owned and insured by the General Motors Corporation. This means any GM Extended Protection Plan you purchase is completely secure... all backed by more than 75 years of experience serving the GM family of satisfied customers.
